Sigma Chi (ΣΧ) is one of the largest and oldest all-male, college, Greek-letter social fraternities. Sigma Chi was founded in 1855 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio when members split from Delta Kappa Epsilon. Sigma Chi has seven founding members: Benjamin Piatt Runkle, Thomas Cowan Bell, William Lewis Lockwood, Isaac M. Jordan, Daniel William Cooper, Franklin Howard Scobey, and James Parks Caldwell. Sigma Chi is a part of the Miami Triad, along with Beta Theta Pi and Phi Delta Theta.

The fraternity's official colors are blue and old gold, and its badge is a white cross with emblems on each of its arms: crossed keys on the upper arm, an eagle's head on the right arm, seven gold stars and a pair of clasped hands on the lower arm, and a scroll on the left arm. In the center of the cross, on a black background, are the gold symbols for the Greek letters Sigma "Σ" and Chi "Χ". The left and right arms are connected to the upper arm by gold chains.

Sigma Chi's purpose is to promote the concepts of Friendship, Justice, and Learning; its mission statement is to develop values-based leaders committed to the betterment of character, campus and community. Sigma Chi's vision statement is "to become the preeminent collegiate leadership development organization—aligned, focused and living our core values."

Sigma Chi was honored by the United States Congress on its 150th anniversary on June 13th, 2005, becoming the first Greek-letter society so honored.

The Theta Sigma Chapter

The Theta Sigma chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity was established on November 16, 1985 at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and quickly emerged as leaders on campus. Currently we have 71 active brothers after the 2008 commencement. We have won several awards on campus for leadership in philanthropic service, athletics, and campus involvement as well as two national awards, The Peterson Award, for the most outstanding chapter of Sigma Chi. Sigma Chi is proud of its continuing leadership on campus with brothers holding offices in ASI, InterFraternity Council, Greek Council, and several other organizations on campus. Our Alumni play a large roll in continuing our lifelong commitment to Brotherhood. With over 215,000 active alumni, our brothers may be found in all parts of the world. Some of our prominent alumni include David Letterman, John Wayne, Merlin Olsen, Woody Harrelson, Tom Selleck, Brad Pitt, Barry Goldwater, and Mike Ditka to name a few. Alumni support and contributions is what truly sets us apart from other fraternities.

Theta Sigma Chapter House

We are located at 159 E. Holt Avenue in Pomona California. We are approximately 3 miles east of the Cal Poly Pomona Campus. Our Chapter House is the center of our brotherhood as well as also serving as the center of our chapter operations. The house was originally built in the late 1800s among the large amounts of citrus trees growing in the area. For a house that is over 100 years old it is in great physical condition, thanks mainly to the endless dedication from the brothers in our chapter. We invite you to come by anytime to check out this historical house for yourself!
